Pilke is a unique lighting collection created by renowned Finnish product designers, including Tukka Halonen and Harri Koskinen. In Finland, abundant forests provide the country with the resources needed to produce substantial quantities of plywood and cardboard products. As a result, the Pilke (Finnish for twinkle) production team has developed into master woodworkers, crafting timeless fixtures without the use of glue or screws. The designs provide exceptionally warm, diffused illumination and work well in residential, hospitality and retail settings. Pilke has won Chicago’s coveted Green Good Design award as well as the prestigious Eco Design award in Helsinki. Pilke lights are made entirely in Finland and fabricated by local craftsmen.

Tukka Halonen is a highly talented designer with over 15 years experience in the commercial design sector. He studied at the Royal College of Art in London and worked for several years at Habitat and Tom Dixon’s Design Office. In his recent works Tuukka has been influenced by traditional crafts employing wood in its various forms. He was awarded the Green Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum for his collaborative work on developing the Pilke lighting program.
