John August

John August is a noted product designer based in San Francisco. As an accomplished craftsmen and machinist he employs a hands-on approach to the design and engineering of objects, always in pursuit of the space between art and function.  Equally at home with traditional hand tools, 3D modeling software, or advanced CNC machinery, August explores the balance between hand-made objects and the precision of quality mass-production. "As long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by the unfolding harmonies of geometric forms as they are applied to sculpture and design.
